Support educators beyond the first training session.
Connect practical training, classroom application and ongoing support to the tasks teachers do every day.

Educator development should be connected to everyday teaching. A useful starting question is: what should an educator be able to do more confidently after this learning experience?
Build around practical tasks
Begin with relevant activities such as preparing a lesson, reviewing a resource, recording assessment information or providing learner feedback. Match the learning activity to the educator’s subject, teaching stage and available equipment.
Make room for guided practice
Provide opportunities to try a task, ask questions and receive feedback. Introduce manageable steps, with examples that reflect the classroom context. Where connectivity is limited, plan suitable materials and realistic ways to continue practice.
Connect training with classroom use
Agree a small application activity and a follow-up discussion. Peer support and a named contact can help educators explain difficulties and share useful approaches. Review the work produced, rather than relying only on attendance at a training session.
Keep the support practical
Equipment, permissions and technical help need to be available when educators are expected to apply new skills. Explore the Smart Educator Development Programme and the proposed outcomes framework for SENI’s approach to capability and review.
