Before the technology, understand the school.
A practical starting point for school leaders planning a sustainable digital education programme.

A useful digital education plan starts with a clear account of the school’s daily work. Which tasks take too long? Where are records incomplete? What prevents teachers and learners from accessing the resources they need?
Choose a manageable first priority
Identify a workflow that matters to the people who will use it: attendance, assessment records, communication or lesson preparation. Describe the current process and agree what improvement would look like before choosing a system.
Review the foundations together
School leadership, records staff and educators should review available devices, power, connectivity, staff capability and support. Include accessibility and household access needs so that participation does not depend on assumptions about personal equipment.
Plan for the work after installation
Agree who will answer questions, maintain equipment, authorise users and cover recurring costs. Give staff time to practise with appropriate sample information before introducing operational records.
Use readiness as a planning conversation
A gap is a preparation need, not a reason to exclude a school. The SENI readiness planner turns eight areas of preparation into a downloadable discussion checklist. Use it with the delivery pathway to define a realistic first step and review point.
